Jurlique have been developing biodynamic, organic beauty products since 1985. They have an extensive beauty range, and given the quality of the ingredients the products are reasonably priced. Their hand creams are renowned for being luxurious and we have to admit that we are addicted! That isn't to say that there aren't a few ingredients in there that we haven't recognised, so if you are a pure raw skin food guy or gal then this is not for you. For the rest of you, we'll list the ingredients we didn't recognise and give a brief explanation before we hit the review side of things.

  • Cetearyl alcohol is widely used in natural cosmetics as an emollient, emulsifier and a thickener, it has no known toxicity.
  • Hydrolysed soy protein is derived from soy protein by the use of an acid or enzyme.
  • Lactic acid is an Alpha-Hydroxy Acid (a.k.a. AHA or ‘fruit acid’) derived from milk; AHAs can cause sensitivity in the skin as they remove the outer cells.
  • Sodium cetearyl sulfate is a salt from the same family as Sodium Lauryl Sulfate and, quite unsurprisingly, has been found to be irritating...but not as irritating as SLS.
  • Sodium hydroxymethylglycinate is a synthetic preservative..and that is just about all we could find on it!
This cream has brought us nothing but smoothe, soft hands. Before Fushi's chickweed and chamomile ointment L would occasionally smear some of this stuff on, but only occasionally, even so it did the trick and smelled fab too.

The texture of this cream is quite thick so you only need a small amount. It spreads across the hands easily and absorbs quickly, it's such a treat for weary, dry hands. We like to use it just before going to sleep so we can be soothed into deep sleep by the scent of the luxurious damask rose. It's quite an intense treatment and the results can be seen within a matter of minutes.

We must admit that we prefer to buy the larger bottle purely because it lasts longer. In our house, a 125 ml tube of this cream will last just under a year (for some reason it's always 11 and a half months) so it comes to about £2.52 a month.

The scent of damask rose oil is said to soothe and harmonise the mind, instilling a sense of well being and can be used to help with depression, anger, grief, fear, nervous tension, stress, self-nurturing, and self esteem.
