Tropical Isle Living Jamaican Black Castor Oil Red Pimento Hair Growth Oil Review

Rating: 5/5. Available from Sheabutter Cottage - £12.55 for 118ml/4.0 oz (+ p&p).
I know what you're thinking; does Sheabutter Cottage stock anything that is not amazing? Well, we've shopped there for ages and we've never had anything below excellent quality.
But this review isn't about Sheabutter Cottage, it's about Tropic Isle Living, so let's get to it!

Tropic Isle living was founded in 1992 with the aim to produce a range of Jamaican herbs and herbal products valued and used across generations because of the nourishment they impart on the hair, skin and body. Tropic Isle Living is the home of the original Jamaican Black Castor Oil, and Sheabutter Cottage are the only UK/Europe distributors for Tropic Isle Living.

This hair growth oil is supposed to strengthen, thicken and stimulate the growth of hair by increasing blood flow to the scalp, supplying nutrients to the roots of the hair, stimulating hair follicles & strengthening the hair shaft as well as help to remove toxins and parasites that might affect hair growth. Red pimento oil also contains copper which can assist hair growth.
It comes out in a gel-like consistency and is easy to apply and spread over the scalp, we only use it to focus on the roots of the hair and use a home-made conditioner like this one or this one. The smell isn't over-powering in any way, in fact, it's barely there at all & it rinses out easily.

None of us are bald or balding, so we had to lend this out to a TBT dad to check out whether it can help stimulate hair growth. He used it over a period of 4 weeks, and it has actually helped hair growth a little, he was balding on top but his hair does seem to be growing back. It's not a clinical test but it's the best we could do! Either way, we were very impressed.

We've been using it over the past month and we're not sure whether it's helped hair growth but it does give your hair fantastic body and has strengthened it. It seems to darken the hair too, but that could be a result of the hair being strengthened.

All in all, it's a great product for strengthening the hair and stimulating growth. We've recommended it to everyone we know and we've had nothing but great feedback.

If you've tried it, let us know what you think!
Hope you've had a great day!

  3. Jamaican Black Castor oil is the best hot oil treatment for hair. This oil is benefit for any hair type. But if you have dry hair and scalp you must be careful to treat you hair with castor oil because they have surfactant contents that make thermal effect in your scalp.
